Primary Accountability:

The shift leader is responsible and accountable for all restaurant activities while on duty in the absence of the General Manager. The shift leader works with the General Manager and the District Manager to ensure that all sandwich artists are performing their job responsibilities and meeting expectations in all areas of their job descriptions to the best of their ability.

Essential Functions:

The essential functions of the Shift Leader position are denoted below in the following areas:

TOTAL GUEST SATISFACTION

  • Consistently provide a quality product and guest service experience consistent with total guest satisfaction.
  • Takes necessary action to ensure all guests receive service beyond their expectations. Anticipates and exceeds the guest’s needs. Handles “special situations” immediately in a positive manner that encourages guests to return.
  • Effectively monitors all aspects of the restaurants operations to anticipate problems. Takes initiative to correct problem areas immediately.
  • Consistently enforces and maintains all operating standards in the areas of quality, service, and cleanliness.
  • Monitors and maintains proper staffing level and makes effective business decisions in regards to food & labor cost controllables.
  • Observes employee attitude. Takes appropriate steps to create a friendly atmosphere for guests and employees.
  • Suggests means to improve guest service.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Strives to improve the skills and performance of all Sandwich Artists.
  • Effectively trains Sandwich Artists to using the existing training tools.
  • Routinely evaluates team members work performance appropriately & professionally to address performance issues. Maintains proper documentation of all disciplinary situations.
  • Provides regular performance feedback to motivate and improve the performance of all Sandwich Artists.
  • Provides direction and supervision for Sandwich Artists to maintain high productivity and morale.
  • Makes an ongoing effort to improve personal performance level.

EFFECTIVE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

  • Supports efforts to maximize sales, profits and minimize controllable costs by effectively directing and supervising work shift activities.
  • Effectively plans, organizes, and implements all daily operational routines and activities. Completes all required administrative duties including daily and weekly paperworks.
  • Able to supervise and perform at the highest level in all areas of operation as directed by management.
  • Supports the goals, decisions, and directives of restaurant management.

APPROPRIATE AND FAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES

  • Complies with all CGI, OhCal and DAI(Subway) policies and procedures regarding business and personnel practices.
  • Complies with and models all CGI policies, procedures and guidelines. Enforces all in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Holds team members and self accountable for the methods and processes used to achieve results.
  • Role models and sets a positive example for the entire team in all aspects of business and personnel practices.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Is capable of communicating effectively with guests and team members. High school diploma and bilingual skills a plus.

EXPERIENCE
Must have successfully completed the entire Sandwich Artist Training Program. Must be at least 18 years of age.

TRANSPORTATION
Must have reliable transportation, liability insurance and a valid Driver’s License

ACCESSIBILITY
Must have a telephone or other reliable method of communicating with the restaurant.

HOURS
Must be able and willing to work flexible hours including opening & closing shifts, graveyard, weekends and holiday.

  • Ability to troubleshoot cash handling problems. Good mathematical skills
  • Excellence in performing the duties of all workstations and in completing assigned tasks and duties.
  • Ability to look at the restaurant operations from the Guest’s viewpoint.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Bend and stoop.
  • Work around others in close quarters.
  • Move throughout the restaurant and visually observe restaurant operations and employee work performance.
